We held our annual company day at Belle Vue Stadium on Monday. With our team split across four locations, the day is a great opportunity for everyone to meet up. It also gives Gordon and I a chance to give the guys an update on how the business is going. I am glad to say things are looking very positive on all fronts for Trust IV; however the same can’t be said for the weather on Monday.
Belle Vue Aces Speedway
Compared to last year’s company day, which saw a series of class room style activities, this year saw us have an evening at the speedway to support the Belle Vue Aces. I have been a long-time fan of the speedway and have been going since a child. My fondness with sport has continued due to my friendship with former World pairs champion and current COO of the Aces, Chris Morton. However, my recent record at the races has not been good. I have been twice before to Belle Vue in the last year and have yet to see a meet finish due to crashes or unforeseen circumstances. Unfortunately my bad luck continued as the meet with Eastbourne was washed out due to rain. It was a real shame the weather got the better of us, as speedway is a fascinating sport to watch.
Thanks to our associates
All was not lost, and we were shown around the pit lane and were able to meet some of the riders and engineers. We also wrote an article which was published in the match programme. I’d like to thank Chris, Jane, Antonia and their team for help during the day and we will look to come down and watch the Aces. Let’s just hope the weather is on our side.
Finally, I’d like to thank our associates who made the effort to come. To Simon from CraftBrew who did the catering for the company day. Simon stepped in last minute to help out and I know the mini steak pies went down a real treat! Many thanks also to Claire and Harriet from Manchester Camerata, Chris from FDM and Paul from Computer People for coming to the evening do. I’m just sorry we didn’t get any chance to watch any racing!
