On Wednesday, both Ian and I went to the eCommerce Expo in Manchester. Held down the road from our office at Manchester Central (or the GMex to the locals), the event was for anyone involved in online retail and covered a number of areas such as; digital & mobile marketing, ecommerce & mcommerce, payment & security as well as fulfilment, delivery & retention.

To anyone vaguely interested in cricket, you would have heard of Jonathan Agnew. Better known as Aggers, he is a former England Test cricketer and the current voice of the legendary BBC Test Match Special (TMS).

HP LoadRunner is the industry leading performance testing tool.

Personally, I'm not that happy about that. I'm a big believer in open source, and I think it's a shame we're so dependent on a proprietary tool. But, the facts are the facts, and LoadRunner is the market leader.

I'm sorry to hear of the problems affecting Nationwide Building Society's customers at the moment. According to the BBC, Nationwide is suffering from a system failure which is preventing access to online accounts.

We recently had a requirement to do some performance testing of an application which used Unipass certificates to secure content. We've often encountered SSL certificates before, but Unipass certificates were a novelty for us....

In January I read this article from the BBC website which described how technical debt was building up in UK banks. I was surprised to find an article using what I thought was a "geeky" term in the mainstream press and I wrote a blog article on my own website describing three primary reasons for the build up of technical debt.
